Electric, Wastewater, Trash and Stormwater are all on one bill.

If you have an electrical outage contact the town office at 794-4496.  After hours call the pager at 364-4142.

Accepted forms of payment:

Cash, Money Order, Check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover

Credit/Debit cards can be used over the phone by calling 1-866-480-8552 or by coming in the office or by going to www.paygov.us and paying online.

Darlington buys our electricity from IMPA 

Rates:

Electric meters are read around the 20th of each month and you should receive the utility bill around the 1st of the month.  Darlington Municipal Utilities is not responsible for delays in post office delivery.  Expect your bill around the 1st of the month.  If you don't receive it then please call the office for your balance.  Utility bills are due on the 15th of the month to avoid penalty.  If not paid by 10:00 a.m. on the 23rd of the month then you will be disconnected.  The balance of your bill plus a $30.00 reconnect fee will need to be paid before service can be reconnected.  No reconnects after business hours.

Electric

Following is an example of how you can figure your own Electric Bill. 

This is the Ordinance for the rates.

Suppose you used 1500 KWH

1. Your first 40 kWh would be multiplied by $0.137036 which would be $5.49

2. Your next 40 kWh would be multiplied by $0.105001 which would be $4.20

3. Your next 420 kWh would be multiplied by $0.080975 which would be $34.01

4. Your next 100 kWh would be multiplied by $0.072966 which would be $7.30

5. Your next 400 kWh would be multiplied by $0.066559 which would be $26.63

6. The remaining 500 kWh would be multiplied by $0.063915 which you be $31.96

7. Your electric base rate cost would be the total of these charges which would be $109.59 in this example.

Then you will multiply your kilowatt’s by the Tracking Factor Rate, which changes every 3 months.  Add Sales Tax.  Then add them all together.

January, February, March 2011 Tracking Factor Rate.

April, May, June 2011 Tracking Factor Rate.

July, August, September 2011 Tracking Factor Rate.

October, November, December 2011 Tracking Factor Rate.

January, February, March 2012 Tracking Factor Rate.

Wastewater is based on how many people live in the house:

$34.38 ~ zero to 1 person

$52.11 ~ 2 people

$63.35 ~ 3 or more people and for businesses

Stormwater:

$2.00 per household

Sanitation (trash pick-up)

$10.00 per household

Trash is picked up every Friday.  Please have it curbside by 7:00 a.m.

Limit six 30 gallon bags per residence, per week.

The following items will not be accepted at any time for regular trash collection:

Tires

Motor Oil

Rocks, Earth, or Sod

Yard Waste

Large Automobile Parts

Appliances

Furniture

Construction/Remodeling Debris

Batteries

Animal Carcasses

Burn Barrels

Any Hazardous, Toxic, or Flammable Substances

Penalties will be added if payment is not received by the 15th of the month:

Electric is 10% of the first $3.00 then 3% of the balance.

Wastewater, Sanitation and Stormwater is 10% of the balance.

Utility Deposit: 

Homeowners and Renters are required to pay a utility deposit.  The fee is $100.00 if home or apartment is heated by something other than electric or $150.00 if heated by an electric furnace.
