Sidewalk Money Available for Darlington Resident's.

If your sidewalk is in need of repair or replacement maybe we can help.

Did you know the Town of Darlington has a Sidewalk Fund just for the purpose of helping you maintain your sidewalk?

Here are the requirements that must be met and the application for sidewalk money.

§ 92.10  SIDEWALK POLICY AND SPECIFICATIONS.
   (A)   The town is authorized to purchase concrete/cement for the construction, replacement or improvement of sidewalks located within the town, if all the following conditions are met:
      (1)   If sufficient funds are available in its Sidewalk Fund to do so;
      (2)   If a request form has been submitted in person at a Town Council meeting;
      (3)   If a particular project has been given approval by the Town Council;
      (4)   If the property owner has not received concrete assistance in the past 5 years;
      (5)   If the specifications provided in division (B) of this section are followed; and
      (6)   If prior to the delivery of the concrete/cement, the Clerk-Treasurer is notified of the cost of the concrete/cement and approves that particular expenditure.
   (B)   All sidewalks constructed, replaced or improved under this section shall be 4 inches in thickness in places where there will be pedestrian traffic and 6 inches in thickness in places where vehicles will traverse on the sidewalk. In addition, all sidewalks shall have a standard width of 40 inches.
   (C)   Nothing in this section shall obligate the town to purchase concrete/cement or otherwise provide any financial assistance to homeowners or developers in connection with any sidewalk or other project whatsoever.
